Average size is about 19 inches, 360 grams. They are capable of talking, but usually not considered to be great talkers.
Severe Mini Macaws may be a little more likely to bond with one person in the household, therefore, it is advisable for everyone to participate in a Severe Macaws needs. Mom might feed the Macaw, Dad might clean the cage, and Johnny gives him his shower and Sue takes him out and spends time on the play stand with the bird. In this manner, the Severe will quickly learn that if he wants everything provided in his life, he needs to get along with everyone who performs a job.
Provide a sturdy, well made cage, plenty of variety in the diet, including fruit, veggies, pasta, grains, well cooked eggs, white meats, and a pelleted diet. Toys are mandatory, not an option.
