Average Sleep Times for Pet Birds
Did you know that birds need ten to twelve hours of sleep at night?
Just like small children, they may feel grumpy if they aren't getting enough sleep! Help them feel secure, and protect them from drafts, with a dark colored cover while they rest.
Covering a bird mimics their own cavity nesting instincts and provides a secure sleep environment.
If your bird is expected to get a good night's sleep in a room with activity such as TV watching, lights turned on, and people moving about, it's just not going to happen.
Ten to twelve hours of quiet, dark, covered and secure sleep is necessary for a healthy, happy, stress-free pet.
