Identifying the sex of parakeets

Birds that can be identified as male or female by sight ("sexually dimorphic"), include the common parakeets! Check your parakeet's cere. That's the part above his beak, where his nares are. If it's blue, you have a male. If it's pinky-peach, or flesh colored, you have a female!

My little parakeet is what I believe to be a dominent pied. (At least from what I've read.)

The were is a very very light bluish color with a touch of cream color around her/his nostrils. I have no idea of her gender. Any ideas? I couldn't find a breeder close to home and was forced to buy from a pet shop. They knew less than I did about birds!
